Long serving Nation Media Group (NMG) popular #TheTrend and #SideBar host and news anchor Larry Madowo has left the Nation Centre two days after eight columnists had a mass resignation.

Mr Madowo leaves the stations weeks after NTV's Managing Editor Linus Kaikai was reportedly sacked for criticizing the government on the media shutdown - in his separate role as Editors Guild Chairman.

Group CEO Joe Muganda also left the company and moved to Vivo Energy Ltd in the same capacity late January.

In a single tweet, Madowo who has 1.4 million followers said Thursday afternoon "I leave as I came: humbled & grateful. The job was one of the great honours of my life. Thanks to everyone who watched, and to Nation for the privilege of the opportunity. I’m proud of my amazing colleagues & everything we accomplished. Farewell, my friends. Stay woke"

He did not indicate his posting. But he has vast local and international networks - and its a matter of time before Kenyans know his next work address.

Nation Media Group has continued to edge out many of its' editorial staff in what is perceived as a purge to align the independent media house a pro-government media house.

For 3 days, Kenyans trended #NMGExodus as they lashed at the management of the media house on the dwindling fortunes, which they fear would affect editorial quality adversely.

Fingers have continually pointed to NMG's Editorial Director Tom Mshindi who has failed to respond to the allegations when requested by Cofek.
